Femicide

Combating Femicide in Kenya

In response to the alarming spike in femicide cases in Kenya, we have launched a dedicated Anti-Femicide Campaign to raise awareness, advocate for change, and foster a collective commitment to ending gender-based violence. Femicide, the targeted killing of women and girls due to their gender, is a grave violation of human rights that demands urgent attention and comprehensive action.

 Current Situation:

Recent data highlights a disturbing surge in femicide cases across Kenya, underscoring the critical need for immediate intervention. These incidents not only inflict immeasurable pain on families but also pose a severe threat to the safety and well-being of women and girls. The Anti-Femicide Campaign seeks to address this crisis head-on by mobilizing resources, engaging communities, and pressuring authorities to take decisive action.

Campaign Objectives:

Raise Awareness:

Disseminate information about femicide, its root causes, and the devastating impact on individuals and communities.

Foster a greater understanding of the urgency and importance of combating femicide within Kenyan society.

 Advocate for Policy Reform:

Lobby for the implementation and enforcement of stronger legal measures to combat femicide.

Work closely with policymakers to address gaps in existing legislation and ensure the protection of women and girls.

 Community Engagement:

Empower local communities to actively participate in the prevention of femicide through education and awareness programs.

Facilitate open dialogues to challenge harmful gender norms and stereotypes contributing to the perpetuation of violence.

 Support Systems for Survivors:

Establish and enhance support systems for survivors of femicide attempts, offering counseling, legal aid, and other critical services.

Collaborate with existing organizations to ensure a comprehensive network of assistance for those affected.
